The Chevrolet Malibu is a popular car choice for many Americans. This vehicle offers drivers the safety of knowing that they are protected by head-curtain side airbags; knee-protection airbags; and front seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters, along with the regular seatbelts. The vehicle also has an SOS post-crash alert system in case you or your passengers need help after an accident.

As a popular choice for many Americans, there have been charges that Malibu is not as safe as other vehicles in its class, including the Ford Fusion. In order to find out if this is true or not, we gathered data from many different sources so we could compare both models and see which one comes top in various safety features.

The first thing we wanted to look at was the safety of the front seat passengers in both vehicles. For this, we looked at each vehicle's performance in certain types of crashes and how both protect their front-seat passengers from injuries. The Malibu earned four stars for overall protection, while the Fusion earned five stars.
