Pulling a boat to Lake Fork?
Ask for the 5.7L V8. It carries the Silverado's top 13,700-lb rating, 4,000 lbs more than the 6.6L.
The 2027 Silverado 1500 is a full redesign with two all-new V8s, a stronger standard engine, a 16.3-inch touchscreen on every trim, and up to 13,700 lbs of towing. Here is what changed, what each trim costs, and how to get one in Mineola.
Nearly everything. Chevrolet calls the 2027 model the most powerful and advanced Silverado ever, with new exterior styling, a redesigned interior, new technology, and two all-new V8 engines.
The new 5.7L and 6.6L V8s replace the previous 5.3L and 6.2L. The 2.7L TurboMax four-cylinder gains 40 horsepower and 25 lb-ft of torque, and the Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel returns. All four engines use a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Inside, every trim gets a 16.3-inch center touchscreen and a 12.2-inch digital Driver Information Center. High Country and ZR2 add an 11.5-inch front passenger screen, and a panoramic sunroof is standard on High Country and available on ZR2, Trail Boss, and Silverado trims.
The 5.7L V8 is the towing champion, while the 6.6L V8 is built for maximum power.
Towing is how much weight the truck can pull on a trailer. Payload is how much weight it can carry in the cab and bed, including passengers. Both maximums require specific cab, bed, drivetrain, and package combinations, so your truck's exact ratings will be on its door-jamb label and window sticker.
| Engine | Horsepower | Torque | Max Towing | Max Payload | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2.7L TurboMax | 350 hp | 455 lb-ft | 9,400 lbs | 2,340 lbs | Highest payload and work-truck value |
| 5.7L V8 (new) | 402 hp | 428 lb-ft | 13,700 lbs | 2,170 lbs | Heavy trailers: boats, campers, livestock |
| 6.6L V8 (new) | 481 hp | 501 lb-ft | 9,700 lbs | 1,510 lbs | Maximum acceleration and V8 performance |
| 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel | 305 hp | 495 lb-ft | 12,000 lbs | 1,870 lbs | Long highway drives and frequent towing |
